Batting Order Positions

• is set in the order of listing as per the official teamsheet which each team coach/manager hands to the umpire (and the scorers) prior to game commencement
  Those team sheets should be available well before the game - at least 15-30 minutes so the scorers can write up their scorebooks
• players for each team are listed in their batting order from 1 to 9 and that order stays in place for the whole qame.
• If players change fielding positions (while on defense), they stay in the same batting order (on offense.)
• If a player comes in from the bench to substitute a player, the substitute assumes the retired player's batting position -
  even if the new player takes up a different fielding position than the replaced player.
• Note that names are in full Surname,Firstname.
• Do not allow the coach to give you nicknames or initials. (The coach has to learn their names anyway!)
• If your team has uniform numbers - use them.

The team sheet to the right shows game details - Home.Away, date, venue and division their uniform number (listed as "REG No") 9 batting order positions the players fielding positions the pitcher (#40 Jackson,Jay at fielding position 1) players available on the bench the team coach (Oliver,Ollie.) Do not worry about the "DH" fielding position just yet - that is for more advanced divisions. Batter 7 (Gable,Giovani playing left field) is the player Designated as the Hitter for the pitcher Jackson who does not bat. Perhaps Jackson is just too, too valuable a pitching asset to ask him to bat? Or perhaps, he just can't hit the ball? And by the way, this is the only teamsheet I have ever seen with player names in alphabetical order!
